The month is all about the buns and tarts, but here’s another treat: Mari’s got a fresh, tasty mix for us all – best served with a glass of that dangerously good wine. Ready? We sure are.

The winery has been a member of the association of organic wineries Ecovin since 1990. Christian Lay and Corinna Lay produce their high quality natural wines with the motto: ”Organic = Logical!”

Dark yet warm evenings require tasty dinners with friends. Friends with colourful wines. Wines with tasty music. That’s all what we want now, right? This month we’re more than excited to share a soulful & heartwarming mix by the one and only Joseysradios with all of you. A glass of wine and a slice of music? Yes let’s go.

The wine-pairing for this month is Schmelzer’s wonderful Dion petnat!
Dion is a petnat made of Welschriesling and Sämling. The wine is drawn into the bottle during fermentation without a pump, using only natural carbon dioxide. The fermentation finishes in the bottle under crown cap to provide natural and light bubbles for the wine.
The wine is super enjoyable with hints of exotic ripe fruits, like mango and peach. Notes of elderflowers and light aromas of honey can also be found. It is a great wine for mingling, but goes also well with savoury cuisine. Perfect for the shifting seasons!

”Some might know that I’ve dabbled with soul music a bit during my time. Even though I’ve ventured into other sounds during the past years, soul has never left my body. Here I present a selection of downtempo tracks that I’ve enjoyed recently, some a bit longer than that. They range from the 1970s to 2000s with a heavy emphasis on the nineties. Soul sommeliers would call a lot of them ”steppers”, but you don’t have to bother too much with the lingo. Just let it ride.” That’s how @galacticmace describes the mix. And the wine for this month is Daniel & Bianca Schmitt’s Ilo! Reisling
This Riesling defines our expectation of Riesling from Wonnegau, the Southern Part of Rheinhessen! Biodynamically grown on rocky clay soil with plenty of sun, this wine has plenty of fruityness! Peach and citrus aromas which are amplified by a nice mouthfeel from malolactic fermentation. Perfect for the rest of our summer’s sunny days.

Nehrer’s Purple Rain is back better than ever with a new vintage.
Produced on the south-eastern hills of Leitha Mountains in Burgenland, it’s a juicy 100% Zweigelt with lots of berry-aroma. The vines grow on a clay-lime-soil and the grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation begins spontaneously with wild yeasts and the wine is given four days of skin contact. Matured in steel vats for six months. Organically grown and produced without filtration or added sulfites. And it’s Vegan.
The label’s art piece is made by Iiris Riihimäki.

Oh spring! April, the best month of the year, is here and we can feel it. 
This month we’re thrilled to have Ojelma in the mix!
”This mix is inspired by the slowly awakening nature and people rejoicing after a long winter hibernation. April is such a nuanced month – the beginning might be a bit gloomy after all the snow has melted but the end is all sunny and bursting with energy of vappu. The mix includes hazy downtempo to awaken the senses, some bouncy rap evoking a sense of adventure and exploration and playful drum & bass to accompany the vibrant vappu celebration.” Nice. This months’ wine is Koppitsch’s Rét!
Koppitsch’s Rét is extremely fresh and fruity blend of Zweigelt and Sankt Laurent. The wine combines intense berry flavours and freshness of acidity. It should most definitely be enjoyed well chilled and so it couples well with a wide variety of dishes, such as fish dishes.
Rét is part of the Koppitsch family’s easy and fun to approach wines. Rét is Hungarian for field or meadow, a reference to the previous crop on the grounds of which the grapes now grow. The wine is handcrafted by the family and all vines are organically cultivated with biodynamic methods.

As we’re slowly warming up from winter towards spring, Klara is sure to clear your mind with its fruitiness and fine minerality!
Made at the Nehrer vineyard in Burgenland, with the proximity of Neusiedlersee, the location creates excellent conditions for playful, delicate yet balanced, dense and complex wines with refinement and minerality. Klara beautifully embodies the essence of Burgenland.
After the blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Welschriesling goes through a three-month fermentation process on lees in stainless steel tanks, Klara emerges as a fresh white wine that truly represents that distinctive minerality and structure of Burgenland wines.

Adieu, January! February struts in with a sneak peek of sunshine! 
We’re happy to have a dazzling new wine-music combo to tickle your taste buds and serenade your soul. Introducing the fabulous selector of the month: Heidi Emilia.
”I wanted to create something dusky and dreamlike to accompany those hazy Sunday wines. Preferably enjoyed with some sunshine (I’m already dreaming about summer). This hour contains a bittersweet selection of downtempo, trip hop and more, from 90s, 00s and right now. Rounded low-ends, blissed-out synths, velvety vocals, and all that jazz.” says @heidiemiliah about the mix.
Our wine for the month is the funky and frizzante Croci Campedello!
It’s a lightly sparkling orange pet’nat, made from a blend of aromatic grape varieties: Malvasia, Trebbiano, Sauvignon Blanc, Ortugo and Marsanne. A big blend for a big experience!
After harvest the grapes are crushed. The juice is allowed to macerate with the skins for 30 days, which makes the wine very orange. Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts. During fermentation the wine is bottled, and the fermentation finishes in the bottle. This produces carbon dioxide, which is the source of the light bubbles. After the sugars have been eaten up, the wine is allowed to settle and rest for a while. Not filtered or clarified, so the wine looks nice and hazy.
Campedello is a top-quality wine that you could consider buying only for the nose, which is an aromatic combination of lilies, rose, and orange zest. The taste goes along the same lines with the nose. The acidic structure, light tannins, and lively bubbles only add to the experience.

Grown on the unique lime and slate soil of Leithaberg, Nehrer’s Leithaberg Blaufränkisch exudes the vineyard’s minerality. Hand picked and sustainably produced, the wine ferments spontaneously in steel containers. Maturation happens in 500 and 2000 liter wooden barrels for 9 months on lees.

Made from organically cultivated Corvina and Croatina grapes, this fresh and red fruity rose is the perfect wine to fight against the kaamos of autumn!
Il Monte Caro’s winery has its roots on the hills of Monte Caro in 1986, where photographer Enzo Marcolini met his future wife Carla. The couple fell in love with the area and decided to stay and cultivate the land.
They keep their prodcution respectful of the area’s soil and this wine shows the Valpolicella terroir with its minerality.
Il Monte Caro’s harvest is always done by hand. Fermentation begins spontaneously with wild yeast in temperature-controlled steel containers. The temperature is kept low during fermentation to create light and fresh wines.

”This mix is inspired by my favorite season: autumn. I love the beauty & gloominess of the season – the vibrant colors, crisp air, longer nights, and the sense of change and transition it brings.
I wanted to record a bass music mix, but not something intended solely for a club gig. I aimed for a slightly lower tempo (couldn’t help myself moving towards 130 which is my pleasure zone) while maintaining the dark, sexy, wonky, and playful mood that I always strive for during my gigs.
It’s a blend of new tracks and long-time personal favorite dancefloor bangers that are perfect for long walks in dark alleys or for pre-parties with your best friends, complete with wine and cheese.” That’s how @mintakat aka Mary Young describes the mix.
And this month’s wine is the fine and bubbly Camillo Donati’s ’Il Mio’ Sauvignon!
The Donati family begun making wine in the 1930’s in Emilia-Romanga, Italy. Camillo is the 3rd generation of the Donati estate and continues the tradition of growing local varieties and love for nature.
And that love is something you can taste in this month’s wine!
Sauvignon ’Il Mio’ is a very elegant wine, with a delicate aroma and with a good structure made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. A fruity sparkling wine with aromas of white fruit and citrus notes. On the palate it’s refreshing, expressive and with hints of minerality. The grapes are picked by hand, crushed, and after the fermentation the wine is bottled without added sulphites. Re-fermentation in the bottle is started with the estates sweet Malvasia-juice for the sparkling whites.
Unfiltered, unfined, no added sulphites.

The season is slowly changing, but we can still see the warm sun going up and the nature living it’s best harvest times. To celebrate September we invited a selector extraordinaire – DJ Oltermann – to mix for us. And he surely did! Thus we have an amazing over 3h mix full of soulful, atmospheric and groovy vibes. Best to be enjoyed with a glass of some superb natural wine.
”Played a lot of personal classics and more recently discovered favourites in this long mix. A lot of soul and love was put into this one. Recorded organically with only vinyl, the mix shifts from hand picked jazz-funk, soul & bossanova rhythms to disco, then to some house and synth-pop records and back to a soulful outro. This kind of music I personally would imagine enjoying while having a glass or two sitting and listening in the beginning and dancing towards the end. The mix is also funky like natural wine tends to be.” That’s how @dj.oltermann describes the mix.

An awe-inspiringly aromatic blend of 90% Moscato with 10% of Verdicchio and Trebbiano. Made by the brothers Andrea and Matteo Tomassetti in the Marche region of Italy.
With their experience in olive oil production the brothers took quickly to the organic cultivation of the vineyards they rented in 2015. A small house with quality production and passion!
Wild yeasts, steel tanks and no filtration for Ora d’Ora. Orange blossom and perfume on the nose and pleasant grapefruit on the palate. A crisp wine for the remaining warm days of early autumn!

Nittnaus’ Kalk & Schiefer comes from Austrias limestone and slate soil, which also gives the wine its name. A wonderful blend of Weissburgunder and Grüner Veltliner, the organically cultivated grapes are hand picked and 20% of them are given a short skin contact.
Six months in oak, no fining, no filtration, and minimal sulphites added during bottling.

The sun is out and the air is alive with a gentle breeze, carrying the fragrance of blooming flowers and freshly cut grass. The sky, an endless canvas of vibrant blue, seems to stretch out into eternity, dotted with cotton candy clouds that lazily drift by. Summer is here and we’re excited!
We’re also super-duper excited to have iconic Mr. A to mix it up for us.

It´s a mix of some of my old faves and new acquaintances, grand pianos and soaring diva vocals, with little hints of trance and just happy, summery moods all the way. Purple Rain Rosé is made by Nehrer from the south-eastern hills of Leitha Mountains in Burgenland. A juicy 100% Zweigelt with lots of berry-aroma. The vines grow on a clay-lime-soil and the grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation begins spontaneously with wild yeasts and the wine is given four days of skin contact. Matured in steel vats for six months. Organically grown and produced without filtration or added sulfites. Vegan.
The label’s art piece is made by Iiris Riihimäki.

Mas Gomá’s La Planta is a bubbly blend of Xarel-lo, Macabeu and Parellada. The vines are grown on a limestone filled soil which lends the wine tons of minerality. Only the oldest vines’ first harvests of the year are used for La Planta. Made with bottle fermentation, the discorging is done after 24 months. The extended contact with the lees gives this sparkling wine a fine brioche-like flavors balanced with amazing fruityness. This sparkling wine is left little bit hazy which we are crazy about!

Cultivation is fully organic and harvesting is done manually. Fermentation is always spontaneous with wild yeasts in stainless steeltanks. Dosage is 3g/l making it perfectly balanced. Fruity and toasty champagne that turns into mineral and long aftertaste.
